Pray for Team to Africa

Jan 29, 2008

Let's keep Luke and the team in our prayers. I just received word from Pastor Patrick in Salima, Malawi that there has been a delay in their reaching their final destination. It isn't clear where they are at the present time but we will let you know once we find out.  They left San Diego on Tuesday last week.  Just keep praying for their safe passage.

Wendy called earlier today after talking to Jerisse on the phone. Apparently a 2-day scheduled layover in Rome turned into a few days after they missed their plane. They just made it to Salima but without their luggage. Luke also emailed me and said that they have been wearing the same clothes for the last 5 days. At least they're all safe. We'll keep you updated.

Luke emailed and said that they found their luggage except one of Jerisse's. They are busy at work and spent time with the students at Singa Bay Bible College. They even got to pray for one student who was possessed and got delivered! Continue to keep them in your prayers.

Luke: I read your report and it sounds like you hit the ground running. I know the team will do great things and we're praying for you bro. Stay safe!

Vera is back! She called last night and reported that she had a blast working with the team in Salima. The unthinkable happened on her return trip: she lost her luggage again! She'll tell us more after she gets over her jet lag.

Pastor Patrick just emailed an update on Salima. Jerisse is helping them plant corn and vegetables. Luke bought a truck. The roofing on the buildings is going well. They had more baptisms again on Sunday!

Wendy talked to Luke on the phone—Jerisse contracted malaria and passed out when they gave her some shots. Luke isn't feeling too great either. Keep them in your prayers.

You guys are always in our prayers. I hope the shots a effective quickly. Complete your work and come back safe--and Malaria-free.

Okay—here's the latest. Jerisse called Wendy on Sunday and she is doing much better. She has also decided to come back next month with Luke and not stay through the Summer like she had planned. Yay!

Indeed yay! Let's get the Carrs back home safe and sound--we miss them!

Vera and Jessica will be giving a report on Africa on Sunday, March 9 during the worship gathering. Also keep praying that the airline finds Vera's luggage--still missing!

They're back! It was good to see Luke and Jerisse on Sunday--wasn't sure they'd be there but was certainly glad to know that they were home safe. Jerisse said that the malaria 'bug' will stay in her body the rest of her life. As long as her immunity system is up, she need not worry.

Hey , were back and so excited to all your smiling faces at church this last week. Keep praying for our brothers and sisters in Malawi.
