Why are we in Africa? I ask myself that same question every day and I come up with the same answer: If not us then who?
Who will feed over 8,000 kids in the 6 villages of Muguna, Malawi? Who will house and provide clothing for the orphans and underprivileged? Who will help establish God’s kingdom and bring hope for a better life? Who will sit and listen to the dreams of a better future in a country that doesn’t even know how to dream because they are so preoccupied finding their next meal or a drink of clean water?
Who will help the local economy by starting businesses both in the garment and agricultural industries, ultimately eradicating hunger by feeding and clothing orphans, the elderly and the needy? Who will teach, house, and heal the blind and sunburned Albino children in Salima? Who will provide the constantly growing medical needs for the young and old alike?
After asking these questions, I realize that it is impossible for me to turn away from helping my brothers and sisters in this part of the world. I also believe that by my sacrifices and willingness to lead youth and every willing person, I am helping to change the future and breakdown the line that separates the rich from the poor. This helps us to view each other as God views us all—equal in His eyes.
