Lasting Peace

Feb 17, 2010

The phrase “world peace” has become a cliché, at least in the beauty pageant industry, becoming nothing more than a politically correct throw away line.  In recent events, even the Nobel Peace Prize has lost significant meaning.  The truth is that any attempt to bring about lasting peace in the world without God will always fail.

The Bible speaks of a kind of peace that has its roots in the cross—a symbol of the greatest event in human history that divided time in half in order to establish the foundation for real, lasting peace.  The offering of Christ’s own body as your sacrifice ended centuries of an exclusive society chosen by God to preserve his plan of redemption for you.  The barriers between the favored nation of Israel and the rest of the world have been torn down to demonstrate once and for all that the barrier of sin between you and God has also been eliminated forever.

Lasting peace can only occur in God’s kingdom—where he now reigns—in your life, in this world, and in the world to come.  Christ, the Prince of Peace, came to earth to establish peace on earth, and you can have it beginning right now.
