It's All About Grace

Nov 19, 2008

As Christians, when we think about the holidays—Thanksgiving and Christmas especially—the central theme remains the same: It's all about grace! In our study on Titus, Paul begins and ends his letter talking about God's grace just to underscore it's significance.

In the day-to-day life, there are so many things that fight for our attention and take our focus away from grace. Paul singles out foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law. He even calls them unprofitable and useless. Do you sometimes find yourself so wrapped up in activities that have absolutely nothing to do with your salvation? Looking back, do you find certain things you've done that were unprofitable and useless—a complete waste of time?

Let's make God's grace the center of the coming holidays, and even more so, the center of our lives. Take away anything that gets in the way. Let us devote our full attention to studying, meditating on, and sharing the gospel.

This is always a problem; everyday life distracting us from the word. But I gotta remember to seek Him first...and all other things will be added...

How about this for another distraction: Thanksgiving and Christmas! Yes, even the very 'holidays' that are supposed to draw our minds towards Christ and his grace tend to make us focus on everything else but. What this tells me is that as Christians, we ought to be intentional in ALL we do, in honoring God and what he's done for us through Jesus.
