Aliens No More
Feb 10, 2010
No one likes to be left out. You’ve seen the movie, you’ve read the book, you’ve heard the story many times and you’ve no doubt experienced it yourself: rejection, isolation, exclusion. The kid that gets left out of the kickball game because he’s not as strong as the others; the nerd who avoids social contact and sets himself in his house alone; the sign on the clubhouse that says “No Girls Allowed!” We all have experienced the idea of being left out of something in one way or another. When we read scriptures like Ephesians 2:11-13 and see words like alienated it conjures up for us images of rejection and exclusion that we have experienced in the past.
Naturally as non-Jews (and even Jews that don't believe in Christ), we are alienated from the people of God and excluded from His family by our sin. The good news of the cross is that Jesus has put an end to sin for those who trust in His sacrifice! Don't miss that—put an end! That means that the sin of everyone who believes on the Lord Jesus is no longer in need of payment, because Jesus made the blood payment for us (Hebrews 9:26; Psalm 103:12). Those who believe on the Lord Jesus and have been purified by the blood of the perfect Lamb of God are now reconciled to Him forever, and are no longer aliens but citizens of the heavenly kingdom.
